A 1958 watercolor and graphite abstract painting by Danish artist Richard Mortensen (1910-1993). The painting depicts yellow and gray geometric shapes on a teal ground with borders in graphite throughout. Displayed behind a white mat and in a black frame, the painting is signed "Mortensen 58" to the lower right corner.

Mortensen studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Art. He was influenced by the modern artist Wassily Kandinsky, which led him to work in abstraction. In Denmark, Mortensen was a founder of the "Linien" school of abstract painters. Mortensen won awards such as Edvard Munch Prize in 1946, the Kandinsky Prize in 1950, and the Thorvaldsen Medal in 1968. He was a professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Art from 1964 until 1980.
