A signed 1957 oil on canvas painting by the American artist Robert C. Ray (1926-2020). Signed and dated to the verso as well as to the lower right, this striking painting is predominantly green with vibrant patched of blue, pink, and yellow popping out. The painting is displayed in a simple black wooden frame.
Born in Elwood, Indiana, Ray attended the John Herron Art School in Indianapolis. After spending time abroad in Spain and Italy in 1953, he studied under Hans Hoffman in Provincetown, Massachusetts at Hoffman's School of Fine Art. Ray was also a writer and poet with several published books. In addition to being an artist, Ray also ran an interior decorating business in Indianapolis.

Minor scuffs to the frame. Craquelure present. Wear to the canvas on the bottom left. Painting has been repaired/patched along the bottom edge of the canvas.
