Scott Carroll 1980 Signed "AIC" Tabletop Sculpture
A signed 1980 wooden tabletop sculpture titled AIC by the American artist Scott Carroll. The sculpture is comprised of three horizontally connected, double-sided wooden panels featuring painted, textured abstract designs. Primarily blue, orange, and white; each panel of the work is different. The piece is signed, dated, and titled on the side.
Scott Carroll's work is heavily influenced by his early studies as an undergraduate in geology. He later apprenticed under the artist Norman Peterson and is represented by galleries such as M.A. Doran, Kristy Stubbs Gallery, and Parchman Stremmel Galleries in the United States. Carroll's contemporary work is larger in scale than this early example but holds true to the artist's interested in "fused geometric shapes," including manipulations of the square.
8” x 8” x 2.75” (folded closed); 8” x 1.25” x 24.5” (fully extended).
Some loss of white paint at the bends. Chips along the panel edges. Other age appropriate wear.
