Valerio Adami has been a painter since he was 10 years old, when he began under the Italian painter Felice Carena. While born in Bologna, his professional career was strengthened by his move to Paris in 1955. Adami's signature style of Neo-cloisonnism had developed by the eve of his second solo show in Germany in 1964. Since then, Adami's style has remained consistent and evocative of changing cultural ideals, politics and aesthetics.
