A woodblock print titled Falling Forms by Canadian artist Walter Sorge (1931-2021). Vertical forms in pink, orange, blue and green seem to tumble down the composition and overlap to create motion and rhythm. Signed “Sorge” lower right hand corner. Titled and numbered 28/30. Presented behind an off white mat in a wooden frame.

Born in Alberta, Canada, Walter Felix Sorge attended UCLA and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from there during the 1950s. He continued his education at Columbia University in New York where he received his Doctorate in Fine Art and Fine Art Education. Sorge also studied under Stanley William Hayter in Paris and worked at Atelier 17. He later had an extensive career as an art educator and served as head of the art department at Kentucky Southern College in Louisville, the head of the art department at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, as well as chairman of the art department at Eastern Illinois University. Sorge exhibited widely during his lifetime in the United States and abroad.

Condition notes:

Minor discoloration to the work. Some heavy scratches to the frame. Otherwise signs of age appropriate wear to the frame.
