However, he stumbled on glassblowing while working at the living history museum Hale Farm in Kent, Ohio and was happy to learn there was a glass art program offered at Kent State University. While studying glass art at Kent State during the late 1970s, he was able to attend workshops offered through the program that included visiting glass artists such as Marvin Lipofsky, Fritz Dreisbach, Joel Myers, and Dale Chihuly. In 1980, Hunting attended the Penland School of Crafts and in 1981, visited Italy for two months to visit glass studios in Venice and Murano.
