A magazine rack designed by the American designer Fred Garbotz (born 1939) for the Rockledge Design Studios. Produced in 2000, the magazine rack is composed of a single sheet of aluminum that has been cut and shaped to look like a seated figure. The magazine rack is signed and dated to one of the feet.
Born in Rhode Island, Garbotz started out in the business world receiving his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Wright State University. He later studied art and architecture at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. After studying under several sculptors in the Midwest he began developing his unique Postmodern style. After moving to Cocoa, Florida, Garbotz founded Rockledge Design Studios.
