American born Seymour Fogel was the pioneer of modern and abstract art during the mid-20th century. He studied from 1929-1932 at the Art Students League and the National Academy of Design and eventually taught at the University of Texas in Austin. Fogel served as an apprentice of Diego Rivera and together created the mural at Rockefeller Center in New York, Man at the Crossroads. Fogel went on to create nearly a dozen murals throughout the United States. Fogel exhibited in numerous museums and galleries throughout his six-decade career.
