A 1982 abstract acrylic and collage on canvas painting by the Ukrainian-American artist Alexander Liberman (1912-1999). Signed and dated to the lower left corner, this painting stretches across two vertical canvases. Large brushstrokes come together to create a colorful abstract composition in this work. The painting is displayed in a wooden frame.

Alexander Liberman was born in Kyiv and studied in Ukraine, England, and France before emigrating to the United States in 1941. Liberman worked in a variety of mediums, specializing in painting, photography, and metal sculpture. He also worked for Vogue for 58 years as an editor and art director. Liberman's work can be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Tate Gallery, and the Guggenheim.

49” x 61” x 2” (frame); 23.75” x 60” (one canvas); 47.5” x 60” (both canvases).

Condition notes:

Some discolored abrasions and scuffs to the painting, most notably to the edges. Minor craquelure in a few spots around the edges. A chip in the wooden part of the frame to the upper left corner. Other scratches and wear to the frame present.
