A 1994 abstract watercolor painting by the American artist William E. Ward (1922-2004). Titled Canción Mixteca #2, this ethereal work has a glow of layered yellow with blue brushwork accenting the top of the composition. Signed to the lower right, the painting is displayed in a black frame and a white mat.

Born in Cleveland, Ward studied at Case Western Reserve University, Columbia University, and the Cleveland Institute of Art. After serving in the army intelligence during World War II, he began working in various departments at the Cleveland Museum of Art, including the Educational and Oriental Departments. Primarily known as a watercolorist, Ward was also a teacher of calligraphy and watercolor at the Cleveland Institute of Art. His works are in the collections of the Akron Art Museum, the Cleveland Institute of Art, and the Cleveland Museum of Art.
