A Noguchi coffee table designed by the American designer Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988) for Herman Miller. This iconic table has a triangular glass top that rests on a black wooden base that scissors open. Originally designed in 1948, this table was produced during the 1980s and was purchased from the estate of a Herman Miller employee.
Isamu Noguchi was active as a sculptor throughout the United States and internationally for much of the 20th century. His work is not limited to one art movement or style. Over his lifetime he collaborated with Martha Graham on stage sets, he worked on a playground design with architect Louis Kahn, and he mass-produced designs for Akari light sculptures and Herman Miller, some of which are still in production today.
