Warren Platner Knoll Stool

A vintage steel stool with a fabric cushion designed by American architect and designer Warren Platner (1919-2006) for Knoll. This design debuted in 1966 and features welded curved steel rods attached to a circular frame. The stool has an open bottom, with a solid base wrapped in matching fabric to the cushion that rests on top.
Warren Platner was active as an architect and designer at Warren Platner Associates in Connecticut from 1965 until his death in 2006. His quintessentially Modernist designs, of which this stool is an example, were created when Platner worked alongside Eero Saarinen and Kevin Roche in the mid-1960s.

Condition notes:
Some discoloration to fabric on cushion. Some scuffs and scratches to metal base. Some wear to fabric on top of base, with some loose threading. The clips on the top of the stool cover do not clip to the metal base. Overall, wear consistent with age.
