A signed limited edition abstract lithograph by the Swiss artist Hans Erni (1909-2015). This lithograph depicts a dynamic scene with three men and a rooster formed with black painterly lines over a blue, yellow ochre, and burnt sienna background. The print is unframed and signed to the lower right and numbered 7/20 to the lower left.
Born in Lucerne, Switzerland, Erni studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Lucerne during the late 1920s. During the 1930s, he joined the art group Abstraction-Création in Paris where he met artists like Alexander Calder, Jean Arp, and Wassily Kandinsky. Erni worked in a variety mediums including fresco painting and he also designed numerous stamps for Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Erni's works have been exhibited throughout the world and there is a museum in Lucerne dedicated solely to his works.
