A 1975 limited edition abstract lithograph by French-Armenian artist Jean Marie Carzou (1907-2000). A bright red background is contrasted by fine linework in black, white, and gold. Recognizable elements like a profile of a face and a figural drawing appear within the linework. Unframed, the print is signed and dated to the lower right and numbered 18/214 to the lower left. 

Jean Marie Carzou worked as an artist, painter, and illustrator throughout his lifetime. He is best known for his illustration work for Ernest Hemingway and Albert Camus. Carzou has been recognized with the National Order of Merit of France award and was a member of the Institut de France from 1977 to his death. His work can be found in many collections including the Art Institute of Chicago.

Condition notes:

Age appropriate wear. Some discoloration/toning around the edges from a former mat. Scratch in the print along the top (in the sky portion of the composition), faint scuffs in the print lower left. Some tape present to top verso. Toning to the paper verso.
