Michael Baum 1960s Mixed Media Painting

A 1960s mixed media painting by American artist Michael Baum (1933-2021). A black background with circular repeated designs are disrupted by cream lettering repeating the artist's name, "MICHAEL," in upside down letting. Black stenciling can be seen in the gray designs. The piece is framed with an acrylic case that covers the painting on the front and wraps around the edges.

Lifelong artist and craftsman, Michael Baum was originally from New York and exhibited widely in the 1960s. Baum attended the University of Georgia and later art school in New York where he met his future artist wife, Reiko Sakagami. Baum opened a framing company before becoming the owner and horse breeder of Man O' War Farm in Lexington, KY, where he lived out his life.

Repair has been made to top left corner of acrylic. Scuffs and scratches to acrylic. Wear to edges of painting.
