Harry Hilson Signed Abstract Batik


An abstract wax painting batik by the American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). Signed to the bottom right corner, broad bands of black intersect frenetic white and brown biomorphic shapes throughout this abstract work. The batik is displayed in a black wooden frame.

Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-2000. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, and more. His studios could be found in New York, Los Angeles, and Aspen.

Condition notes:

Some scuffs to frame. Some age appropriate discoloration to batik fabric. Signature partially obscured by frame and the way the batik was stretched.
