Harry Hilson Signed Abstract Batik


A batik wax painting by the American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). Signed "hilson" to the lower left, the batik features a composition of marbled white and yellow tubular shapes upon a brown ground. The batik is displayed in a black wooden frame.

Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-1990s. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, wax paintings, video art, sculpture, and more. His studios could be found in New York, California, Texas, Georgia, and Florida. Hilson and his wife, Jane, also ran a framing company called Fine Art Inc.
