A 1981 ceramic sculpture by the American artist Nancy Selvin (born 1943). This ceramic sculpture depicts the form of a teapot with handbuilt body, spout, and handle. The sculpture has a striped design in white and bright yellow with an incised green square with lines accenting the top. The underside of the sculpture is signed and dated.
Born in Los Angeles, Selvin studied drawing and painting at the University of California, Riverside and later at the University of California, Berkley. While at UC Berkley, she studied sculpture under Ron Nagle and Peter Voulkos. After graduating with her graduate degree in 1970 in Ceramics from UC Berkley, started exhibiting in several California galleries and eventually exhibited more widely throughout the United States. Selvin also taught at the State University of New York-Albany as well as at the California College of the Arts.
