An abstract serigraph by American artist Paul Chidlaw (1900-1989). The serigraph depicts an abstract mix of black, green, orange, gray, and purple repeated designs. Repeated dots overlay hardline rectangular shapes of color. The serigraph is presented behind a white mat in a black wooden frame with the artist's estate stamp verso. 

Born in Cleves, Ohio, Chidlaw was primarily known as an Abstract Expressionist artist. After studying at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Chidlaw moved to France where he was able to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Fountainbleau and later under the tutelage of the artists Jean Despujols and Andre L'Hote in Paris. After returning to the United States, he worked as a WPA artist painting murals and after WWII, he began teaching at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
