A pair of Mid Century Modern table lamps designed by Richard Barr for the Laurel Lamp Company. These Brutalist table lamps feature a brass abstract form that stands on a wooden base. One of the lamps is marked with a Laurel sticker to its socket.
Designed by Richard Barr for Laurel and first appearing as part of a “Studio Collection” in the 1965 Laurel catalog. Initially offered in 1965 in Swedish Brass or polished chrome on Rosewood or Walnut pedestal. Height: 42" Piece was later offered in 1974 as Laurel #H-1043 described as a 29" Original Metal Sculpture table lamp. Polished chrome on black base.
Measurements:
5" x 41.25" x 5" (top of metal extender); 4.5” x 34” x 5” (full to top without extender).
Condition notes:
Signs of wear present including marks, scuffs, tarnish and scratches. Heavy discoloration to the harp. Veneer chip to the base of one lamp and peeling veneer at the back corner. Some paint spots. One of the lamps has wear/pitting to the brass tone finish. Only one lamp has a finial. The lamps are in working condition.
