A 1974 aquatint print by the American artist Robert C. Ray (1926-2020). Titled Despatch, this abstract work has a tan background punctuated with overlapping blue designs and a single circle to the lower left. Displayed in a blue and gold tone wooden frame, the print is signed and dated to the lower right and titled to the lower left.

Born in Elwood, Indiana, Ray attended the John Herron Art School in Indianapolis. After spending time abroad in Spain and Italy in 1953, he studied under Hans Hoffman in Provincetown, Massachusetts at Hoffman's School of Fine Art. Ray was also a writer and poet with several published books. In addition to being an artist, Ray also ran an interior decorating business in Indianapolis.
