A 1972 woodblock print by the by Japanese artist Hiroyuki Tajima (1911-1984). Titled Evidence of Fort, this abstract print depicts layers of rectangles and squares in red and blue. Signed and dated to the lower right, the print is numbered 4/50 to the lower center and titled to the lower left. The print is displayed in a gold tone frame and a dark blue mat.
Japanese Modern and Contemporary artist Hajime Namiki studied sculpture under Shigeru Ogura during the mid 1960s and became proficient in wood block prints in the 1970s. Namiki carves his own blocks and uses traditional processes using oil-based paints to depict predominately nature scenes and trees.
