Jens Quistgaard Dansk Designs Teak 16.5” Pepper Mill

A 1970s or 80s pepper mill designed by the Danish designer Jens Quistgaard (1919-2008) for Dansk. Made of teak, this pepper mill stands 16.5 inches tall and has a baluster style shape. The mill itself is made of metal and black plastic and is marked "Dansk Designs LTD Thailand." A Dansk sticker is attached to the side of the pepper mill and reads, "Dansk International Designs LTD IHQ/Thailand."
After an early grounding in traditional handicrafts, Quistgaard began working as an industrial designer. Quistgaard was the head designer at Dansk Designs from 1954 through the 1980s. His tableware and kitchenware designs became synonymous with Scandinavian modern design and found their way into millions of homes in the USA, Europe and Japan. His work is held in museum collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, among others.
