Katsu Nishida Signed Oil on Canvas Painting of Two Figures

An oil on canvas painting by the Japanese artist Katsu Nishida (born 1918). This painting depicts an abstracted rendering of two female nude figures standing next to one another. The figures are painted in thick pale pinks and greens against a darker maroon and brown background. The piece is signed by the artist in the lower left hand corner and has further identifying notes verso. The painting is displayed in a black wooden frame.

Katsu Nishida was born in the Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan in 1918. Nishida exhibited work at the Shinseisaku Kyokai Exhibit in 1939 graduating from the Imperial Art School in 1942. He won the Honor Prize of Shinseisaku Kyokai in 1942 and 1950, becoming a member of the Shinseisaku Art Group in 1950.
