A charcoal and chalk pastel drawing by the American artist Mae Alice Engron (1942-2007). This densely patterned drawing depicts an array of objects, including flowers, lemon slices, cherries, layered amidst various designs. Initialed to the lower right, the drawing is displayed in a white mat and a green and brown wooden frame.
Indiana artist Mae Alice Engron attended Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, Indiana, and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1984. One of the few black female abstract painters of her time, Engron was the featured artist in many Indianapolis exhibitions during her career. Her works are included in the collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Pepsico, and the Indiana State Museum.
