A painting and relief print by the American artist Martin Barooshian (1929-2022). Titled Chapter 5 - Advice From a Caterpillar - Alice in Wonderland, the work is comprised of a hand-colored relief print with a central medallion that is a watercolor painting. Iconic figures from the story are centered around the composition. Signed and titled along the lower edge, the work is displayed in a wooden frame and white mat.
Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Barooshian studied art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston as well as receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education from Tufts University and a Master's degree in Art History from Boston University. He also studied at Atelier 17 in Paris under Stanley William Hayter. Barooshian taught at the Pratt Institute and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. His works are in the collections of the Library of Congress, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York's Museum of Modern Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
