Richard Allen George Oil on Canvas Still Life Painting

An oil on canvas still life painting by American artist Richard Allen George (1935-1990). The oil painting depicts a sumptuous still life in warm brown, gold, and orange brimming with flower filled vases against a patterned wall. The painting is displayed in a brown wooden frame and is signed to the lower left. 

Richard Allen George was born in 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. He received his BFA at the  State University in Buffalo, New York and studied at the Art Students League until 1963. After some time as a college textbook illustrator, George became a graduate student in 1969 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. While there he taught drawing, received his MFA in 1971, and met his wife. He was a full time artist from 1971 to 1990 whose work was shown and recognized internationally.
