$850.00
A 1980 sculpture by the American artist Susan Falkman (born 1945). Titled Stretch II and carved from white marble, this abstract ghost-like work depicts what looks like an undulating piece of fabric draped over an object. Signed with a conjoined "SF" to the underside, the sculpture also has a gallery attached to the underside that provides the title and date.
After receiving her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in 1967, Falkman served in the Peace Corps for two years in West Africa before discovering marble carving in Naxos, Greece in 1972. She went on to study sculpting in marble extensively both in Greece as well as in Carrara, Italy. Since the late 1980s, Falkman has worked from her Mequon, Wisconsin studio and has exhibited widely in the United States as well as in Europe.
