A 1989 intaglio print by the Japanese artist Yuji Hiratsuka (born 1954). Titled At the Opera, this abstract print depicts a woman wearing black opera gloves clapping and wearing a listening device. Displayed in a green mat and a green metal frame, the print is signed, dated, titled, and marked "AP" to the lower edge.
Yuji Hiratsuka received his BS from Tokyo Gakugei University, an MA in printmaking from New Mexico State University, and an MFA in printmaking from Indiana University. His works are in the collections of The British Museum, Cincinnati Art Museum, Cleveland Museum of Art, The Library of Congress, and The Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art, among others.
