A 1991 set of ten ceramic wall sculptures by the American artist Ana England (born 1953). From England's "Essential Equation” series, this work features an array of symbols and designs ranging from geometric shapes to arrows. Each piece has a mottled green and copper glaze. Unsigned, the pieces have small holes in the back for hanging.
England studied ceramics at San Jose State University where she graduated with her graduate degree. She went on to teach at Northern Kentucky University, where she is now professor emeritus. England has exhibited widely throughout the United States, including a solo show at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Her work often focuses on our relationship with the natural world.
Measurements:
5” x 5” x .75” (concentric circles); 5.5” x 4” x .75” (arrow). The other pieces are similar in size to the arrow and spiral.
Condition notes:
Adhesive and paint residue present to the verso of each piece. A chip is present to the concentric circles piece. Some stray white paint present to the sides/front of some pieces.
