Andre Minaux Signed Limited Edition Aquatint Etching of a Woman

$375.00

A limited edition etching and aquatint by the French artist Andre Minaux (1923-1986). This abstract work depicts a woman with hand raised standing on a platform and surrounded by dark geometric shapes and patterns. Signed to the lower right and numbered numbered 31/70 to the lower left, the print is displayed in a white mat and a silver tone metal frame.

Born in Paris, Minaux studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs during the 1940s where he studied under the French artists Maurice Brianchon (1899-1979) and Roland Oudot (1897-1981). During the late 1940s, he started to exhibit regularly at the Salon d'Automne and in 1946, he had a solo exhibition at the Galerie des Impressions d'Art. In 1950, the Musée d'Art Moderne purchased one of Minaux's paintings and a few years later, the Tate Gallery in London also acquired one of his paintings. In 1952, he participated in the Venice Biennale. Minaux exhibited widely during his career and became particularly known for his lithographs.
