A 1983 painting on canvas by the American artist Brenda Sue Nelson Hayes (born 1941). Titled Waves, the painting has a gray background punctuated by a red, gray, and blue cascade of color. Displayed in a silver tone metal frame, the painting is signed and dated to the upper edge and is also signed, titled, and dated to the verso.
Born in Rockford, Illinois, Hayes graduated with a BFA from the University Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1964. She has strong ties to Indianapolis and has served on the board of directors for the Contemporary Art Society for Indianapolis Museum Art, been an Indianapolis Art Center instructor, and has also participated in the Hoosier Salon, the Hoosier Salon, 500 Festival, as well as other Indiana art-related exhibitions and events.
