An abstract graphite drawing by American artist Medard Klein (1905-2002). Signed "Klein" to the lower left corner, linear gradations and soft shadows are depicted in this non-objective drawing. The drawing is presented behind cream mat in a gold tone wooden frame. 

Born in Appleton, Wisconsin, Medard Klein moved to Chicago, Illinois at the age of 21 to become an artist. He gained notoriety for his bold abstractions that were influenced by his love of music. Klein exhibited at the Guggenheim, the Art Institute of Chicago, the San Francisco Museum of Art, and the Library of Congress among other well recognized institutions.

16.5” W x 19.5” x 0.75” D (frame); 9” W x 11.5” H (sight).

Condition notes:

Wear to the finish as well as some scuffs and scratches  to frame. Some stray graphite marks.
