Edna Reindel Studio Pottery Face Plaque

A studio pottery plaque by American artist Edna Reindel (1894-1990). This work depicts a mask-like face featuring geometric designs on the forehead and simplified features composed of geometric shapes. The verso of the plaque is signed.

Born in Detroit, Reindel studied at the Pratt Institute in New York City and later won two Tiffany Foundation Fellowships while living in the city. In 1938, she moved to California. She exhibited widely during her lifetime including at the Carnegie Institute, the Whitney Museum, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, among others.
