A 1959 ink drawing by the American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). The drawing is a self portrait of the artist and depicts him from his shoulders up. Denoted "SP" or "Self Portrait," dated, and signed to the lower left corner, the work is displayed in a blue metal frame and white mat.
Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-1990s. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, wax paintings, video art, sculpture, and more. His studios could be found in New York, California, Texas, Georgia, and Florida. Hilson and his wife, Jane, also ran a framing company called Fine Art Inc.
