A 1961 ink painting by the American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). Titled The Actress, the painting depicts an abstracted figure standing amidst frenetic brushwork and organic shapes. Signed and dated to the lower left, the painting is titled lower right and is displayed in a metal frame and a white mat.
Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-1990s. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, wax paintings, video art, sculpture, and more. His studios could be found in New York, California, Texas, Georgia, and Florida. Hilson and his wife, Jane, also ran a framing company called Fine Art Inc.
