A 1988 bronze sculpture by the American artist Louis Smolak (1909-2010). This abstract work depicts two stylizes figures with one standing on the other's hand. Attached to a round base, the sculpture is signed "Lou Smolack 88" to the base.

Born in Belorussia, Smolak immigrated to the United States with his family when he was four years old. He graduated with a degree in art from Illinois State University and continued his artistic studies at the Chicago Art Institute where he studied under the sculptor Alexander Archipenko. During the Great Depression, Smolak boxed professionally to earn money and he also fought during the Spanish Civil War serving in the Lincoln Battalion.
