Nahum Tschacbasov Signed Bronze Abstract Bust Sculpture

A bronze abstract sculpture of a bust atop a marble base by Russian artist Nahum Tschacbasov (1899-1984). The bust depicts a figure with an accentuated neck and relaxed, closed eyes. Signed along the circular base of the bronze, the sculpture is attached to a square, black marble base. The underside of the base has a tag that reads "Nahum Tschacbasov. Untitled bronze head figure. Signed on bronze base."

Nahum Tschacbasov was a Russian-born accountant who had a successful career as a graphic artist, painter and sculptor who worked between Chicago and New York City. The majority of his painted works are figural and feature a bright, playful palette. In the mid-twentieth century, he taught with the Art Students League. His work has been displayed at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Metropolitan Museum.
