A pair of silverplate teardrop candlestick holders designed by Danish designer Jens Harald Quistgaard (1919-2008) for Dansk Designs. The Danish teardrop pair have both a flat and slanted bottom. Each is marked to the underside "Dansk Designs Denmark IHQ".
After an early grounding in traditional handicrafts, Quistgaard began working as an industrial designer. Quistgaard was the head designer at Dansk Designs from 1954 through the 1980s. His tableware and kitchenware designs became synonymous with Scandinavian modern design and found their way into millions of homes in the USA, Europe and Japan. His work is held in museum collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, among others.
