Clyde Burt Studio Pottery Bowl

A studio pottery bowl by American ceramic artist Clyde Burt (1922-1981). This bowl has high sides and a speckled white glaze. Unglazed portions of the exterior of the bowl create a zigzag-like design. The underside of the bowl is signed.
Born in Melrose, Ohio, Burt studied at the Fort Wayne Art School as well as the Cape Cod School of Art. He went on to work at Cranbrook under Maija Grotell as well as teach at the Dayton Art Institute. Burt's works are included in the collections of the Smithsonian, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Toledo Museum of Art, the Cranbrook Museum of Art, among others.
