Richard Meitner Signed 1982 Art Glass Vase

A 1982 art glass vase by Dutch-American artist Richard Meitner (born 1949). Signed “R. Meitner 82” to the underside, this vase is a brown color with cream colored striping. It has an expressive form, with curves and indentations creating an organic shape. The base of the vase is circular. Gradients in the color of the brown glaze are present.
Richard Meitner was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and completed a B.A. at the University of California. After that, Meitner moved to the Netherlands and later completed a PhD program at the University of Lisbon in Portugal. He has served on the Dutch National Commission for Endowments for the Arts, the Dutch National Advisory Board for the Arts, and as jury member for the International Glass Prize in Belgium.
