Aldo Nason Mazzega Italian Space Age Chrome and Glass Wall Sconce

$2,500.00

A Space Age wall sconce designed by the Italian designer Aldo Nason (born 1920) for Mazzega. Made in Murano, Italy, the sconce has a pulegoso-like glass shade filled with small bubbles throughout. The shade is held within a chrome tube wall mount with sideways C-shaped metal accent around the glass.

Born into a family of glassmakers, Nason became an apprentice glassblower at the age of 17 for A.Ve.M (Arte Vetraria Muranese), the glass company his father Emilio Nason helped establish. Aldo Nason went on to become a partner at A.Ve.M in 1959 and in 1968, he established his own glass studio. His collaborations with A.V. Mazzega, as well as other glass workshops, began during this time.
