Michael Lax Hyalyn “Capri” for Raymor Vase

A Mid Century Modern Hyalyn Capri vase designed by the American industrial designer Michael Lax (1929-1999) for Raymor. The round, tapered vase features a white porcelain body with a round walnut base. 

Michael Lax attended New York School of Music and Art, Alfred University, and studied Scandinavian modern design on a Fulbright Fellowship. Lax worked with Russel Wright and was widely known for designing many household products for Dansk and Lightolier, among others. The Lytegem lamp and enamel-coated tea kettle he designed are part of permanent Museum collections.

Condition notes:

Minor wear and some pinpoints in the glaze. Some excess discolored glue present between the walnut and the porcelain.
