A 1960s abstract oil on canvas painting by American artist Reiko Sakagami Baum (1927-2021). The moody painting depicts layers of horizontal color blended and dripping into an abstract design. Applied impasto create the visual of bright orange gashes within the black ground. The painting is unsigned and displayed in a black wooden frame.

Lifelong artist, Reiko Sakagami Baum was originally from Japan and was known for painting. She attended art school in New York where she met her future artist husband, Michael Baum. The Baum's owned a framing company before becoming the owners and horse breeders of Man O' War Farm in Lexington, KY, where they lived out their lives.
