A 1968 mixed media painting by American artist George S. Coggeshall (1914-1994). This work depicts several figures at various levels of abstraction surrounded by bursts of vibrant color. Signed and dated lower right, this work is displayed in a black frame and white mat.
Born in Elgin, Illinois, Coggeshall served as an artist and illustrator for the Navy during World War II in the Pacific. After the war, he returned to Chicago where he studied at the American Academy of Art and the Mizen Art Academy. He went on to become a successful commercial artist working for Meyercord Decal where he had well known clients such as RC Cola, Nehi, and Phillip Morris.
