An abstract oil on canvas painting by Canadian-American artist Sidney Smiley (1912-2002). This painting features an abstract design in bright reds, blues, yellows, and whites. This piece is displayed in a black frame with a gold tone edge and is signed in the bottom right corner.
Sidney Smiley began his career in music, attending Seattle’s Cornish School of Music, the University of Washington, and the Chicago Conservatory of Music. Smiley was an accomplished musician, playing for the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra and serving as concertmaster and first violinist with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. During the 1960s, Smiley switched his artistic pursuits to painting.
