An oil on canvas painting by Canadian-American artist Sidney Smiley (1912–2002). This abstract work uses thick impasto brushwork in pink, purple, blue, orange, and white. The canvas is displayed in a black frame.

Sidney Smiley began his career in music, attending Seattle’s Cornish School of Music, the University of Washington, and the Chicago Conservatory of Music. Smiley was an accomplished musician that played for the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra and served as concertmaster and first violinist with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. During the 1960s, Smiley switched his artistic pursuits to painting.
