$450.00
A limited edition serigraph print by the British artist Jeffrey Steele (1931-2021). This abstract work depicts green lines that overlap creating a diagonal pattern. Signed and numbered 22/50 to the verso of the print, the work is displayed in black wooden frame and a gray mat.
Born in Cardiff, Steele studied at both the Cardiff School of Art and Newport School of Art. During the 1950s, Steele's work was representational but after winning a scholarship to study in Paris and seeing the works of Richard Paul Lohse, Victor Vasarely, and Jesús Rafael Soto, he turned complete non-objective compositions and worked in only black and white until the 1970s. Steele was the founder of the Systems Group and his works are in the collections the British Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum, Tate Britain, as well as others.
