Bob Shay Studio Pottery Vase

A studio pottery vase by the American artist Bob Shay (born 1944). This cone-shaped vase features layers of earth toned colors, including beige, green, and orange. The vase is marked with a number sequence to the underside that Shay uses to mark his works.
Born in New York City, Shay studied at New York University and the University of Wisconsin. He has taught at several universities, including Ohio State University, the Herron School of Art and Design, and the University of Kentucky. Shay's works are held in the collections of the American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona, California, the Ohio Craft Museum in Columbus, Ohio, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, among others.
