A 1964 limited edition serigraph print by the Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz-Diez (1923-2019). This Op Art work captures colorful lines in various colors that create a design of four circles. Signed and dated to the lower right, the print is numbered 12/100 to the lower right and is displayed in a blue metal frame and a white mat.
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Cruz-Diez studied at the Caracas School of Fine Art during the 1940s and 50s and then later becoming a professor as well as an assistant director there from 1958-1960. Around the same time he also taught Typography and Graphic Design at the Central University of Venezuela. It was also during the late 1950s that Cruz-Diez became interested in color and kinetic art and became one of the pioneers of Kinetic and Op Art. In 1960 he moved to Paris where he exhibited with the Denise René group and the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles. His works are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate, the Centre Pompidou, the Museu de Arte Moderna in Rio de Janeiro, among others.
